P.J. Hogan's much-loved Australian comedy-drama, and the film that launched Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths. Muriel Heslop is an awkward, ABBA-obsessed daydreamer stuck in the dead-end seaside town of Porpoise Spit, where her so-called friends and her bullying father keep telling her she's useless. Dreaming of a big white wedding as proof she's somebody, she runs off to Sydney with her new best friend Rhonda and reinvents herself, with funny and unexpectedly moving results.
